Calling on the Help of First-Time Mothers Around the World
Your Help Can Make Future Pregnancies Safer
Above all the SCOPE study is about you, the first time mother. The SCOPE biobank will enable research into pregnancy complications. A biobank is an anonymous bank of carefully collected specimens matched to clinical information that can be used to discover new ways to predict and prevent health problems. To develop this pregnancy biobank requires the help of 10,000 women in their first ongoing pregnancy; 3000 in New Zealand, 2,000 in Australia, 3,000 in the UK and 2,000 in the USA. If you participate, information about your background health and lifestyle will be collected in early pregnancy. You will be followed up and information about what happens during your pregnancy will be collected.
